The Harte Research Institute for Gulf of Mexico Studies at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is an interdisciplinary research institute whose work revolves around The Harte Model - connecting science with policy, people, and economics in the Gulf of Mexico region, within the United States and internationally. Our ten research areas work collaboratively on issues facing the Gulf and support the education and mentorship for graduate students to become future Gulf leaders. Why focus on the Gulf? With its diverse habitats and an economic engine producing energy and food to fuel a nation, the Gulf can be a laboratory to find the balance between economic and environmental health — a sustainable balance that benefits both us and future generations.

Help us with our mission to achieve an ecologically and economically sustainable Gulf of Mexico.

You can help secure the resources of the Gulf of Mexico today by joining the Friends of HRI with a contribution that will make a meaningful difference in the Gulf’s future. Be a part of this dynamic and important center of marine science. There are great membership rewards at every level.
